Now, don't flip out, but last time I counted them (was when I wrote all of them down and then my computer crashed), I had about 7000, and that was back when Food Network did a teeny spot about me and asked.   Now, I would guess it to be about 8000-9000 easily (and why I haven't done a recount and list).  I also picked up most of mine when they were still a buck or two (and people thought I was crazy).  Those days are over.....

But, some of you have a lot of the higher ended bottles I don't have.

When I started, I got everything....then started trading off some duplicates and trying to consolidate - was too many and I gave up.   So, I have lots of duplicates - just have to organize them separate from the keepers.   That could take days, weeks, months, years......hehe.

I keep saying I am going to do it.  And I guess I will, next blue moon we have.

There was at one time no way you could move in my house without knocking a bottle over.  Heck, one time I was leaning back in my computer chair and it must have been sitting the wrong way on the floor with its feet for me to lean back and backwards I went.  I was on the phone at the time and all the other person heard was hysterical laughing.  So, he laughed too, having no idea what he was laughing about, which just made it funnier....  When I finally calmed down enough to explain what had happened, I went into giggles again.   I had stacked six-pack carriers of Coke commemorative bottles one on top of the other about six deep behind my chair, with just enough room for the chair to roll back and let me out (they were traders at the time), and it was this spot that the chair had fallen back into - but you could hear the tinkling of glass as it went.   (No bottles were injured in the incident.)  What a sound he must have heard.  But the funny part was - I was surrounded by bottles behind me, beside me and there I laid, with my feet up in the air -  I couldn't roll left or right to get out of the chair, couldn't go backwards and the chair's seat kept me from getting straight up - and there I was.  Stuck in a wall of bottles.  All I could do was laugh.

Now, if that had been taped, and sent to Funniest Home Videos, it would have had to won the money (to buy more bottles with).

Ah well, one day in the life.........
K

Oh and I forgot, me too on the Hot Wheels.  Had all the tracks and stuff, didn't like the Matchbox stuff, only Hot Wheels with the mags and red line tires...

I'm fairly new at collecting bottles, and my only interest is in crown top design-embossed sodas (some kind of artistic design, not just an embossed name).  Currently I have about 660 crown top design-embossed sodas.

A name for it - or course there's a name for it.   I tease my friend that he has a bottle obsession.   Obsession fits it for him.   I don't know what it is for me.  Add to my building full of bottles (yeah, to get them out of the house so everytime you moved you didn't knock one over, a building was built - 35 x 16 - and it's about full; most of the duplicates live here, the rest - good stuff - is in display cabinets in the house); so, add to the bottles the signs, trays, crates, cartons, bottle caps, calendars, glasses, magazine ads, posters, photographs, cancelled checks, tradecards, etc. and it makes a lot of "stuff."   But geez is it fun chasing it all down, and the people you meet doing it.

So, obsession can be a good thing........

I am what you call a switcherupper, when I dig better stuff I move bottles off the (good) shelf to the windowsill.I keeps going around and around until I have to  put stuff  in boxes.I don't buy a whole lot,as a matter of fact I haven't bought in a long while.I rely mostly on digs to fill my shelves. Then you have them slow dig periods like now, where you just stare at the stuff you dug and thank the bottle god. Here is one shelf, I had to do two shots the shelf is to long to get it in one pic.

I've just been collecting bottles for about two years now.  I'd say I have around 150-200.  98% of them are embossed and local.  That keeps the numbers down quite a bit and more money to collect other things :).

My other collections are of baseball cards, NY Yankees memorabilia, comic books (regret selling my older Amazing Spiderman comics), hotwheels, arrowheads, fossils and a small collection of coins.  I don't get rid of much.

My wife wonders if I have O.C.D.  Its like I will be hooked on one of my collections for a while then all of a sudden I turn to another one.  Some not so much anymore.

Been collecting for only 2-3 months now (I'm still a baby, waaaah).  My oldest Obsession is collecting Video games.  Got about 9-10 different systems and over 1000 different games for them. Guess I got OVGC disorder.

PS if anyone has an Atari Jaguar they dont want just let me know
