I found a listng for Bengal Chutney in Zumwalts book, page 45, but it says its from Brisbane(Australia)  Anyway , it looks different from yours so maybe Bengal Chutney is just a type of chutney. I'd try researching S.F. Beer Co. next.

I like that sarsaparilla collection you've got..I only dig Hoods. I want to dig a Skoda's from Belfast, those are beautiful and thats only 4 towns away from here. I'm kinda surprised  I haven't seen even a shard of those yet.

very nic einsulator! quite a color for a pennycuick, most are aquas and blues along witha few gray greens and gray blues. The <P> embosed cd-134's come in a bunch of other colors though.  Thats insulators from the 1890's or so, nice find for a 1930's dump! Allways good just to chec those places, good insulators to be found

Great bottles, everyone. Here are a few of mine. First, the "color shelf". Many of these are common, a few are pretty scarce, but I like the rainbow of colors together. Sorry the pic isn't great, I need to work on getting some backlighting in there. ~Jim

An early pontiled medicine/cologne/?? from Pittsburgh, embossed on the sides: PREPARED BY// H. VAN VLECK. I love the tombstone shape with the bulbous neck, very cool bottle.

Nice, deep pontil on the barrel. I wish the pontil on the Van Vleck bottle was this strong!

Thanks for the posts Jim and 4x4!  Diggin in California is so different from diggin in New England, you had such a sparse population back in the day, anything embossed local is a great dig, and historical.
Jim, whats the cobalt round embossed bottle on the right.  Was this stuff dug in dumps or privies?  thanks

Thanks for the photo Bill, love seeing other folks digs! You got some nice pontiled stuff there, was it all dug in Kentucky? in privies or dumps? I've never seen yellow potter like those two cone top cylinders before. I think I remember when you dug that big American Oil bottle, what an awesome piece! That was like a year ago, if I remember correctly. Continued good luck digging. Bram

Thanks, Bram. The big cobalt cylinder is embossed DANL. S. DENGLER & SON/ PHILADA. in cursive script. It dates around 1900. 99% of these bottles were dug from privies. I don't do much dump digging anymore, but have pulled a few nice bottles from the dumps. The Dengler bottle was one of them, my buddy dug it in a 30s dump along with another one like it that was broken. ~Jim
