In my opinion, we are a valuable source of information, and it comes from digging. And we do it because we love it, AND we spend our own money doing it. Tex. I found that catalog, and it shows four or five bottles similar to yours. They list them as French or English, 1790-1820, and you are right, they list them as a medicine. The whole collection was of New Orleans dug bottles including some spectacular colored pontiled bottles, embossed New Orleans, I think Coxe was one of the company names, if I remember. RE: Helpin with i.d. of an early one. - 6/25/2008 4:21:39 PM    texasdigger Posts: 234 Joined: 1/6/2006 From: Roanoke Texas Status: offline When I started this thread I had no idea there would be so much valuable information written in it.  Everyone has added there own bits to the puzzle.  It really amazes me when I think about how much historical knowledge is held by all the members here.  If we all could pool our info together we could write a book on the history of glass making that blow away any reference I have ever seen.  This place is so valuable, but it suprises me that there are not more collectors here sharing ideas.  IF I did not have access to this site I would have never learned half of what I know about bottles.  Thanks guys!! As for finding the old thread Matt I have searched every possible way I can think of to find it, and have come up empty handed.  It would be nice to see it, but I feel like I have a good idea of what, where and when on this bottle now.  Owning the bottle is only a bit of the fun of this hobby to me.  Understanding the history behind them is where the real joy of this hobby comes in for me.  Ya'll have a great day, and I am going to try to post all my new bottles soon.  I also have to post a bunch of sodas and meds on ebay this week. I have a lot of things going on.  Also the Coke convention on the 5th of July is five minutes from me so I will be going there as well.  If anyone from the forum is going to be there drop me a line, and maybe we can meet face to face.
