I agreee with Rick, NasTEE!!!!  I still think a mild dose of prednisone for just a few days, not long term, would clear that up quick.  You poor, suffering fella.  I'll pray for you.  Never had or saw blisters that bad and I've suffered from it many times over the years.  Good Luck and easy suffering.

washing with soap and water will spread the oil that carries the poison.  Use a commercial product to block the oil from getting to your skin.  If you cant get the commercial stuff, wash with alcohol, a lot.  The alcohol will dissolve the oil.  It will sting if you have any scratches.  Better to get stung than have blisters.

Wear gloves and long sleeves as you dig and wash your skin often with alcohol. DONT smoke as you wash with alcohol.  Alcohol burns with an invisible flame.  You will feel the heat but cant see the fire as you turn into a crispy critter.

when you wash your clothes after being in contact with poison ivey, take them to a commercial laundry.  You dont want that stuff in your washer.  You could get some residual oil in yoor undies on the next load, talk about poison ivy rectum- wow!

Spray the ivy with a good weed killer a couple of times and then watch out for the roots as you dig.  It is best to spray the stuff in the spring when it growing.

Do a little research on line about poison ivy at any of the universtiy extension services.  You will learn more about poison ivy than you ever wanted.

For a cheap way to handle poison ivy, get some goats.  They eat poison ivy and like it.
