Time to go- made my way back to the van, and on my way from deep in the woods, I almost walked right past this poor guy. I just barely caught him on the corner of my eye as I passed about ten feet away from him. At first I thought it was a large red squirrel or something, dead, all tangled up in barbed wire. I got a little closer to find it was someones little lap dog, badly tangled, but still barely alive. I would need wire cutters or something to get him out. I banged on about 4 neighbors doors, but no one was home. I finally found a farmer lady, who agreed to come into the woods to help me free the dog ( man was she nuts to do that! ) But I'm glad she did. We were able to hike back out to where the dog was. I gave him some water from my water bottle. I cut him free, with lots of wire still tangled around his neck, and when I did, he just slumped over onto his side, he was so week. We layed him in a blanket that the lady had brought. She took him to a vet for me, because I had to get to work on time :/ She emailed me just now to say the dog has 75% to recover. He had maggots on the sores he had on him already, yuck. He had been there for 2 days at least, the vet said. He would have not made the night for sure. I don't like dogs too much, but no doggie should die that way, the poor guy. Anyways, the lady said she'd keep me posted
