Here is a picture of one of mine just for the hell of it.  Its available, but not cheap.

I paid $400 for it.  I just really wanted it at the time, and was kinda bored on ebay at the time too.  I thought I would get outbid and didn't, so now I own it.  I still really like it, but I didn't add any other bottles to my collection for a little bit after that.

Most likely you'll have a problem with a colored Dover Del pharmacy bottle.  The only one I know of is a citrate and some Delaware collectors would be all over it too, if it showed up at auction.

Matt that is what they were going for at the St Joseph, MO show, except yours looks alot better.  Getting some of the colors are very hard because some people have deeper pockets than mine.  Thanks, Dean

Matt when they get into a bidding war is when I get out.  I just hope to get a few of the different colors to mix in the state capital druggist.  I have 2 of the hardest:  Salem, OR in cobalt blue and Juneau, AK in clear.  Thanks, Dean

Dean, your collection is very impressive.  How many Arkansas hutches or bottles do you have?

This has gotten interesting.
Do you, or anyone you know, collect FORMER State or National capitol bottles? For instance, Detroit was the capitol of Michigan, before Lansing, prior to 1847. If you had a bottle that dated prior to the capitol's change, would it count? (I have pontilled druggists from Detroit, case in point)  The National capitol moved 8 times.

Here is an informative site, regarding this topic and includes each state and former capitals.

Are you counting SCA bottles as "colored?"

Do you have any Michigan bottles for trade? I'm also more in to the trading mode, than the collecting of greenbacks, although I have no aversion to such <grin>.
Bill

Matt, My collecting history is quite a story as sickness forced me to sell my bottles in 1978 when I was given a 10 per cent rate of survival.  As you can tell the Lord gave me more than the doctors.  My early collecting consisted of Arkansas whiskies and ruby red bottles and an early 50 state Hutch collection.  I had about 35 Ark. whiskies and the largest Royal Ruby Red know-even larger than R.J. Brown's.  I didn't know that at the time but R.J. has told me that I had more of them than he.  Now I have 50 different Hutches from Ark. out of the known 208. I have 11 different sodas of 12 and both druggists with the different sizes from Conway  This picture shows the Ark Hutches 2 deep across the entertainment center.
Thanks, Dean

Hi Druggistnut,  That would be quite a collection of former capitals.  Arkansas actually had 3 and very nearly another.   I don't know of anyone attempting that yet.   I would like to consider the SCA, but don't because of the irridation that is being done to some of them.  I like the sun colored amethyst color and have a few mixed in my collection..  I will have to check on the MI bottles tomorrow as they are in the shop.  Lansing, MI is one of the druggist that I need. They and the Des Moines and Jefferson City are all hard to get around here.  The same for the Hutches.  I'll try to get you a photo of any Michigan  that I have extra tomorrow.   Thanks, Dean

Bill,  These are the only Michigan Hutches I have for trading.  I actually have another Norris in my 50 state collection and have a  litre Sullivan in my 50 state capital collection.  Thanks, Dean

Dean, thats some nice looking shelves.  It looks like some amber cokes and a few colored meds.  I have 41 Delaware hutches out of about 100 known.  I also have a few "hutch" types like that Joseph Daniels.  Other then 3 colored squats (2 pontiled), and 1 pontiled med, I haven't put a whole lot of effort into other Delaware bottles yet.

Matt, You're right on the amber cokes and amber Gayola and the colored medicines.  I guess that you have my problem; with all your Hutches it is hard to find new ones and they are expensive when you can find them.  The druggist are beginning to get that way.  Only one cobalt blob from Arkansas, 2 known; owned by the same person.  NOT ME  Have a great day, Dean

Hi Jamie, If this was a Hutch in lime green, forest green, or emeral it would be worth from $600 to $5,000 depending on rarity.  But truthfully, the last report that I knew about was only 1 colored one liter Hutch and it was an amber from Shamokin, PA.  Soon we will know if one is listed in Ron Fowler's Hutchbook at Seattle History. as it contains all known Hutches.  Hope this helps.  Some states list their own bottle books and usually you can find them through Google.  Have a nice day, Dean
