That turkey is an explosion. Not a big explosion but never the less an explosion.

Here is one with the flashing still on it. The big pieces I cut loose using a pair off set end cutters.I will have to get a pic as they come out of the mold.

I am curious Warren , did you smoke the molds with a candle for lubrication , or did you just pour the molds direct without anything . I have always had trouble to getting the bayonet to pour in the mold .

Poured them clean. No problems. I use propane and oxygen to heat everything. After about three pours they start coming out good. It is a lot of fun and easy to get carried away with it.

I might....

Here is a painted set. Didn't do the little explosion (turkey thing) because I just don't have the colors handy.

Don't know how I missed this earlier Warren , but I am glad I caught up with it . The figures look pretty good . Did you get enough of them poured to make up a platoon or so ?

Hello Toy Soldier buffs,

There seems to be quite an interest in the lead soldiers of bygone conflicts. There is a Toy Soldier Community Forum. From my little bit of searching theres seems to have been several sizes available. The amount of paint, original boxes, etc. impact on the value. Here's a brief history of Britains, a British manufacturer.

Rick, from this article on How to Identify Britains Toy Soldiers, I would guess the piece that your friend detected is over 100 years old, because of it's round base and detailed casting.

Here's a Washington Times piece on a collector. And one more collector piece.
