Nice find, I love digging up signs! They are a class of their own and I have a few cool ones I've pulled out of various places over the years too.

I would have been back there ASAP to dig that outta there. It is impressive how you got that other sign too. I'd suggest probing around because there are probably more in there. That Dallas sign is pretty beat but you might be surprised what a skilled restorer could do with it. That Campbells sign would have made my day, way to go man!

If you don't mind, here is a sign I found in similar circumstances, with just the edge poking out from under tons of concrete and dirt right next to the Vermilion river in Danville, IL. It was about 1 foot away from the water. It was wedged between old rusted sheets of iron and took me over 45 minutes to wedge open the sheets, dig out the overburden, and pry the thing outta there. I almost thought I wouldn't be able to get it!

Not trying to hijack your thread or anything. Great work and I hope you can get back in there and find some more. Where there were 2 signs, there were probably at least a few more. Seems to be the way it goes.

Hey Sam way to keep your eyes open.  I think I would have stayed until I had it out even with a screwdriver.  Neat piece.  I've pulled a few out myself but that thing is in great shape.  Makes you wonder.

thanks , jerry . i went back today and the river is still over the banks which backed up the creek 15 ft deep . if i hadnt have gotten that sign out last wensday in the rain it would still be there killing me not knowing which sign it was or what the condition was . i love the solid bottle on last post . really wanted to knock down some more creek wall looking for another but the creek is lipping level full . only thing i found today was a dr tinchnors aqua antiseptic . oh well it maybe a few weeks before river and creek goes down ,expecting two days of rain starting tonight . i didnt forget about the pics of hutches just had to format computer and reload windows and lost the pics . have to take somemore . watchout for a program called cybersecurity , its a killer . thanks the sign has 29 watchers and 8 bids so far . sam

Nice work on that sign. That is some solid cash.

I would imagine that it was curved in order to mimic the contour of a can of soup. Not too hard to imagine. The pole would have to be pretty huge if the curvature of that sign was to match-up, and the framework on the backside essentially negates that possibility anyway.
