Hey Joe B, I'm in south eastern new york, and In the spring I would like to join you in a dig. always looking for a good dig.If the dupm is a big as you describe, mabey a bunch of us could get together and really blizt it.

I have witnessed a two foot diameter auger used for digging pilings roll up dozens of bottles in an old beaver pond/dump ,although not all were intact the broken ones appeared to have been that way before being augered. I would be skeptical about augering in rocky,hard ground though, but then shovels dont work in rocks very good either

Shovel, sledge hammer, brick hammer, pry bar, hand tools, rope, for.... Real cold weather.
Shovel, bucket, hand tools, rope,...for Warm to cool weather.

That's all you need to dig, simple and easy, when you work for your bottles you get paid off, we do any way, life is complicated, digging holes are not Rick

About a year or two ago, someone posted about using an auger. There were at least 4-5 replies asking to see pics etc.
I don't think he ever replied to any of those requests.
