RE: My new gift from idigjars...its a open pontil!!! - 6/12/2010 9:33:58 PM    RED Matthews Posts: 2394 Joined: 8/2/2008 Status: online Hi  I just wanted to point out that your open pontil was made by the use of the blowpipe from the bottle just ahead of this one.  When the blow pipe was removed it was laid on a rack by the glory hole of the furnace to keep it hot.  Then when this bottle was blown and ready, that previous blowpipe with some of the previous bottles neck forming was stuck to the bottom of your bottle, so this is a blowpipe tube pontil mark and often referred to as an open tube pontil.  RED M. _____________________________ http://www.bottlemysteries.com/welcome/ (in reply to potstone) Post #: 23
