I would definately pull out that diamond Coca Cola Throw Away. The jars don't look like much but I do spot a cottage cheese in there. The can of crown tops would be one to sort, I thought I saw a deco in there.

Again, Thanks to everyone. Thse pictures are about 1/2 of the cans I have. I sorted one out that is only medicine type bottles. I will have to dig them out this weekend as I have stuff piled 3 feet high on top of the cans.  I am not the one who sorted the cabinet display out. A visitor from California did that a couple of years ago. There are other almost similar bottles in some of the garbage cans - I guess I should go through everything.  To answer psychpoodle, the front says H. JACKEL ( there is also some kind of crest with the J & H as a logo ) then at the bottom is NORWICH CONN , THIS BOTTLE NOT TO BE SOLD , REGISTERED. There is a seam runnuing from the indent on the bottom, to the lip,  but not into the lip.

I forgot about the milk bottle questions. I did not buy them, however my wife may have at some point. She had taken all of my old Carnation bottles for kitchen decorations a while back, then after changing decor again I took them back. I do not remember finding them, and the glass seems much thinner than the Carnations. I should add that the older milk bottles are from the original dairy site which is about 40 miles from home - we did the big remodel there in 1998 and these were found laying around.

Your question - collector or hoarder? - is a tough one. At times, my wife accuses me of hoarding. If you've seen that show, real hoarding is a brutal and terrible sickness. I hope I never get there.

I think that you do have some nice stuff and people here are giving you good advice. Embossed bottles will generally have some value. Blank bottles (unless pontilled or nicely colored) will not have much. I would keep EVERY bottle from Alaska because I'm guessing there is a limited number of those out there. While many of your bottles are collectible, like Pyshodoodle, I am curious about one. This one . . .

Thanks Bob, That is a cool little ( milk bottle ? ) that I found in upstate NY. My family is originally from Quarryville right outside of Saugerties, and in the 80`s we went back there and helped rebuild the original homestead. Lots of cool stuff found including a powderhorn in the walls, quite a few bottles where the old outhouse was, and ones like this from a sort of dump area. No one else was into keeping anything so i grabbed it all.   The bottle is 7 inches high, and has a large T & w 1871 on the front. The back has 141 , FRANKLIN t / -  ( the small t and the line under it appear to be part of the word ), NY. There is either a seam that goes half way up the body only, or it is some kind of casting leftover. There are also lots of air bubbles in the whole bottle. The lip is kind of oversized and seems to be a little bit clearer color than the body. The bottle is a light blue green. When I figure the picture sizing thing out I can post pictures or I can e mail you picture anytime.

You said you had some bottles from Texas?
I would love to know about those.

Hey Kurt,

I'm with Bob on that one. It looks like a squat soda or mineral water for sure.

Okay. Here are some of Kurts pics. They look small on my computer so, I'm betting they will be tiny. This first one, that psy asked about is clearly a weiss beer bottle.

Hope that helps Kurt. I have more pics (of these two) but this should help us identify them. Both bottles have blob tops and are collectible. If it is possible next time, send me as high of resolution as your camera permits (and I will downsize them to fit). Happy collecting (and don't let your wife chuck these out).
