Old House With 1820s Gravestones Need Help!! - 3/15/2006 12:11:22 AM    VirginiaDigger   Posts: 460 Joined: 5/10/2005 Status: offline Heres a place I found but I don't know where to dig??? The grass may be a little healthier and greener than the surounding area even in the winter. For the dumps look for any ditch, washout, gully, or ravine. Also check out the edges of any swampy mud holes and the back side of fences and corner of fields. If you find a stone pile then they may be under the stone pile. Usually in back of the house or across the road. In a ditch, just remember how they thought back then. Out of sight out of mind. Are you close to a creek or a river or a swampy spot? Are there any old cars out back in the woods. You're probably not going to find a dump on flat land. Some people would put there trash out bak of the cemetary as well. But I do have to agree with these guys. Get out that probe, find a helper and dig some privy's. There should be a few there.
