Dr. J. Moore's Essence Life, 1820-1840.

Unsure as to actual value, Kovels 11th edition has it @ $90.00......I paid $20.00., perfect condition. Has white gung inside, looks like the sickness but isn't. It comes out easy but I prefer to leave it..dunno but it might be orig contents residue.

Some great bottles in this thread, I'll take photo's as soon as we get some sunlight here .

I was handling one of those wide mouth case bottles exactly the same as Cliff's last week, they are a stunning bottle.

Heres the oldes bottle in my collection Its a large light olive green open pontiled snuff mad around 1790-1810. I dug it from a large very early privy in downtown baltimore. With a bunch of black glass cylinders of the same age.

this pic is of my share of the goods from this privy dig my digging partner got an almost identical group of bottles including a nice amber pontiled snuff.

I think this demijohn is pretty old - anyone have a guess on the date? It has a huge open pontil on the bottom.

Great demijon, I love the twist in the neck. Too bad Harry Pristis doesn't seem to be around anymore, he would be able to give you a good idea of the "when and where" on that one. My guess would be New York state, 1850s.

thought i might get into this.

i have a dutch onion and a ladies leg that came out of the Berbice river. i think i spelled that right.

ive got some 1840's bottles,

pieces of black glass i can date back to 1680 because of the site they came from.

i found a yellowware childs whistle in the shape of a dogs head. early 1800's. maybe even 1700's.

i have part of a native american jug/water bottle thats from about 1400.

if anyone wants to see pics just let me know

I wish Harry Pristis would come back on board of this bottle forum as he seems to be a wealth of information about antique bottles.

This is the oldest bottle that I have dug. It is a cobalt swirl scent bottle with a ground pontil and sheared neck made between 1800-1840. It realy made my day when it came out of the groung because before this guy my oldest was about 1885-1890. Realy old bottles do not come out of the ground alot here in Texas. You guys all have some very sweet bottles.

Brad
