that sure is a nice A. Conrad ya just sold. It used to be when I was young watching my dad deal in antiques that you couldn't hardly sell a damaged piece of stoneware. Today though you can sell the shards if they're nice enough. My dad collected stoneware back in the early 70's and sold out not long after. We went to the late Dr's auction who bought his collection down in wythe county Virginia in hopes of buying a couple of pieces back, in the late 80's, with no such luck. The one piece I believe was a 3 gallon with freehand decoration, brought nearly 3 grand. We came home with our tail between our legs. The jars with the makers names go for less than the ones with mercantile names and smaller towns on them. You can have a jar made by and marked T.F Reppert, Greensboro Pa. worth $200. Just as well you can have a jar made by the same maker but with a store owners name and the town and it can be worth many times that amount. It all depends on the town, the Proprietor, and of course the decoration. Well I've run on at the fingers enough here. Ahh the good old days and seeing fighting eagle 20 gal. crocks are long gone. Now I get excited when I see a nice freehand wax sealer. Good luck on selling it. And if you don't get atleast $100 for on ebay I'd be very suprised. Here's some eyecandy for ya's. The jug is debossed "J. Miller / Wheeling Va."
