Thanks to everyone for checking out this post (and Gene's). Sadly, the big pit bottomed out today at 21 feet. The floor is solid concrete, leading me to believe that it may have been a big cistern prior to being used as a privy. We finished up yesterday and today with a nice little open-pontiled umbrella ink, an A. Stone lug fruit jar lid and a few puffs. We got about 20 open-pontiled pieces in total. We will have a new pit lined up for the weekend! Hopefully, it will be at least as good as this one. Although it was a bummer to not get any blob sodas, it was a great pit overall with the druggists, hutches and pontils. We will have the camera along at our next one as well, and you guys will be seeing it. ~Jim
