Jessica,  I just located this web site on Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin posted by the city of Montecillo, Ill. where the syrup was manufactured.  Thought you might enjoy this bit of history on this bottle.
www.cityofmonticello.net/cms/publish/pepsinsyrup.shtml

You can also enter Syrup Pepsin in Google.

There is a sample bottle mentioned on the web site.  I'll see if I can locate one and post a pic.

Thanks Warren,  I know that I have different versions of the Caldwell bottles.  I'll try to get some photos of how the bottles went from the BIMAL  to the ABM.  It may help some of the new collectors in dating some bottles.  It's also interesting that Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin survived the scrunity of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906.  A lot of the meds disappear after the crackdown. Also  the bottles had to drop the use of the word cure.

I wear a hunting jacket out there, too. It has great pockets!  On my last bottle hunt, I filled all of the pockets and still had to leave several behind.  When I came back for them, a raccoon had "marked his claim," if you know what I mean.  Anyway, the seam does go through both of my Dr. Caldwell's bottles but they are different.  One is a little shorter and says "Dr. W B Caldwell Inc." on the side.  The other has a greener looking glass and says " Pepsin Syrup Company."  I think the shorter one is older.  I read about the history of Dr. Caldwell. You might be interested in the site below.

Here is a pic of a Fitch bottle.  It's cologne, I think.
Thank you for your response.

Okay, that is good information to have.  I was planning to go the the retirement home in this town and ask the old people about some of these things!  Imagine that.   I will be buying a t-shirt now.

The Honey and Almond Cream is lotion.  I thought it was something for cooking when I first found it.  That is the only Hind's bottle I've found.
I am having a hard time figuring out how the forum works.  I can't reply to anyone unless it comes to me through my e-mail.  I wanted to send Spencer a picture of my collection but it wouldn't let me reply to him.  Here is a picture of most of my bottles.

Yep, Thats what Fitch made, cologne and fufu water as my dad calls it. Fufu water is the stinky stuff that barbers put on your hair after a haircut way back when.

I don't know why it wouldn't work earlier, but it seems to be working fine now.  Thank you for your help with the pixels.  Now I can post the pics, but still only one at a time.  Here is another one of my favorites.  I have heard that there was a "Rawleigh's man" who would deliver the product.  I don't know exactly what it was, but I think medicine.  I have two different sizes of this bottle.  The smaller one has a P and a 3 on the bottom.  What do those marks mean on the bottoms?  I know the Heinz bottle had a 57 so I figure it was a bottling location and that's how it got its name, Heinz 57???

actually i think they got their name from their being 57 varieties and the 57 on the base may actually be the date on the rawleighs the p is most likely the makers mark and the 3 is probably either a date code or mold id number

Here's a link to an old post with a  little info on Rawlieghs.  If you go to the top of any post and click on "search" under Antigue - Bottles.Net header you can type in any subject and see any past posts related to your search topic, very helpful for newbies and oldsters.

Thank you!  I think I'll do some research and make a little journal.  I printed the pics of the ones I have and I'd better start documenting some stuff before I get too many more.  Do y'all know of any books that identify bottles after 1900?  I couldn't find anything very user friendly at Barne's and Noble. Thanks again.

Thanks, but I think I'm gonna try the library or Half Price Books first.  I thought they might have some older books that would be pretty good.  I appreciate it, though.  Here's another pic of an old Lysol bottle.

Jessica,  I use an older book by Dot and Carlos Sellari.  It's a hard bound book and has both listings and illustrations  of the bottles. I've seen some of their used books on the net for sale.  The large bound edition has room for more listings than the paper back bottle books.  As far as the group of medicines, these are common and probably dont't have much monetary value.  These are commonly called drugstore bottles and collectors prefer the bottles that have the drugstore name embossed on the bottle.  There were several glass companies that made these generic bottles and I group mine according to the glass company and size as noted by what appears to be a backwards "3" such as 3i, 3ii, 3iii etc. The glass company will be the company name or symbol on the bottom of the bottle. Warren, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the backwards "3" is the symbol for drams.

the symbol that looks like a messed up 3 is actually a symbol meaning ounces so the ones that say 3I are 1 ounce and so on and so forth

I'll look for that book, too.  Thanks!  I have given some of the medicine bottles to the pharmacist in town to display.  He already had a few.  The only one I had with the drugstore name on it was that little Rexall bottle which has something clear in it.  Could be water.  I found a few things today.  I looked up Tabloid by B W & Co.  It is a tiny little bottle.  When I looked it up, I found this site. It is about a couple of guys who went diggin' and found the same little bottle. http://www.ecbw.ca/3.3.htm
From what I can gather, it is either a pill bottle or a poison (Photographic Chromium Intensifier compressed to intensify black negatives.)  Check out the picture.  It is the bottle in the middle.  The one with the nickel beside it is corner shaped.

Here's a picture of some of the other  things I found today.  One of the medicine bottles says "pour here" with an arrow to the cap!   The other had that brown stuff in it.  The other one is probably cologne, because it has a really small opening.

The one with the really small hole is probably a hair oil like the wildroot bottles.  The hole is so small you can fill them with fluid, turn them upside down, and you have to shake them to get anything out.
