Hey Joel, to my knowledge there was not a specific bottle made for the US Army that contained poison. These bottles were blown for them but they held a multitude of different medicines. I am unable to make out the mark that you are talking about. I personally have never seen one of these bottles with any kind of mark on them other than the embossment.  Hope this helps,  Kelley

I knew I had seen your bottom some place before (no pun intended).

Here is the one on usa md btl.

Doyou suppose this was from the Baltimore glassworks. I am to understand their embossments were  a bit weaker. The original ones in the start of the war were better, produced in PA, I believe. In the beginning the Norht thought that war would be a piece of cake. They didn't even have a medical plan, so to speak, and quickly strated producing med supplies. Talk about lack of logistics. As soon as the North realized this wasn't going to be as quick and easy a war as they thought, they started producing cheaper bottles. That was toward the latter part of the civil war.

I have one ....same style...same nice color...base marking A B 1.... I know nothing about this bottle. I purchased it at a antique shop in NH. for $3.00. Nice shape good color and older looking glass. I think its american made.
