I am dying to know more info on the bottle. What year? Value? Where'de you get it? Dug? What's the color? Is it rare? Where do I get one?

Sorry, Joel...

Didn't mean to mislead you... I can only WISH I owned this one...As Kelly said, it went for around $68,000... I guess Jeff said it was $67,500 on the Travel Network show that aired recently...

Altho this bottle remains the "Everest" of my fantasy collection, my real life holy grail remains attainable... I saw one on an on-line bottle shop the other day... By the time I had lined up all my little duckies to make sure I could make an offer, the dang thing had been sold... Don't presently have a pic (there's one or two on the forum somewhere), but it's the colored Pheonix Bitters by John Moffat...

It looks like one of the bottles from that infamous SF dig.
I'm not sure a tapered octahedral (or whatever shape that is) is considered a figural. I think it has to represent some known object (dog, moose, washington monument [close but no cigar], pickle, etc, etc.)

OK... If we toss that one... I gotta go with the cobalt hot air balloon "Captif 1878" with a price tag of $7840...

But it's probably French and elegible to be disqualified as a furriner...

Ron, Did you HAVE to make me look at that Bryant's again?? I'm keeping the paper towel companies in business wiping all the drool off of my computer .

Jock, I don't happen to collect Avon bottles, milk bottles or barbed wire...But there are people who do, and I say good for them. Can you imagine how boring (and impossible) collecting would be if everyone liked the same thing?? 99.9% of all bottles would be worthless, regardless of age, color, type, etc., simply because if there are no buyers, there can be no sellers!

Looks like I threw thousands of dollars down the drain on my rare poison bottles, because every single one of them dates well after 1900 . Collect what you like, and please don't feel the need to insult others for doing the same! ~Jim

Joel...You're killin' me, man! In my area of collecting (poisons), the 7 1/2" amber Norwich coffin is the rarest figural. I believe there are 4 known. Price range is $12,000-15,000, but will likely go higher if and when one comes to market. ~Jim

The skulls are always a hot item. They came in three sizes. While they are a rare bottle, there are other poisons that are more rare but underappreciated in my opinion. I know of some unique bottles in the irregular hexagon series that have sold for less than half of what a mint skull will bring. I think those days are coming to a close, though. Two irregulars have been sold recently around the $5K range!

I hope to add a skull to my shelves one day, just to have one. ~Jim

Jim,
You know it is funny, how I just can't wait to get a bottle. Then I get it and it sits on my shelf. The thrill of desire, the excitement of discovery and the anticipation of getting it on your shelf is nothing but a memory. It is the thrill of the hunt that entices me. Enjoy it. You will have one on your shelf one day. You may just have to trade off something else to do it.
Joel

I hear you there. If it weren't for digging/buying to sell/selling/trading, I wouldn't have a lot of my best bottles. I've sold and traded some bottles that I still miss, but the ones I got from doing it are sweet!

The thrill of the hunt is something that I will be enjoying for life...Out of the 28 known proprietary poisons on my list, I have 5 of them, only 23 to go . The most complete collection I know of has 25 of 28. And then there are the ones that haven't been discovered yet. ~Jim

Both of the two knwn "mint" examples of the cone Bryant's were dug in CA, one in Sacramento and the other in the "Big Dig of '98" in San Francisco. They were sold seperately and both brought in excess of 60K. I have pawed over and drooled on both specimines.

I believe Barb Wire was a bad movie with Pam Anderson. You must mean Barbed Wire.
