new label/old bottle - 5/16/2006 3:00:36 PM    69valiant   Posts: 9 Joined: 5/15/2006 Status: offline I almost hate seeing all these labels being sold on Ebay.  I just can't get it out of my head how easy it is to take a new label and stick it on an old bottle with no embossing thereby turning it from a 10cent bottle to a much more sought after and collectible item. It just makes me a lot more hesitant to buy a labeled bottle off ebay and any that make it through this transformation will be out there for many, many years to come just making it that much more difficult to detect the fake.  I saw a pontiled puff the other day with a label on it for "projector oil" ( maybe a little early for projectors-1860's?) and the glass was "sick" as if it was dug, but with this beautiful label.  Might be authentic, but kinda fishy. I love labeled bottles and just hate to see this.  Buyer beware and always do your homework. Post #: 1
