Hi. Im new here. I wanted to share my find and see what info I can gather on the bottles I have. I was cleaning out a customers shed and she gave me four really nice whiskey bottles. I will post pics when I can but for now I will describe them.
I have two that are identical, but labels differ (yes they have labels!) They have a spider and web design on them. On one the front label say's "antique" spiritus frumenti 100 proof an alcoholic ctimulant made from the fermented mash of grain. And the bottmlabel reads "aged in wood. On the back of one it has a perscrition from a dr. is about all i can make out. The back of the other spider bottle say antique "Old Joe" distilling company. There is a spider on the front in the middle, and a fly traped in the right hand corner, webbing covers the rest of the bottle. At the top it say's non-refillable. The stamp on bottom say's T.M.REC.U.S.PAT OFF then has a <> and 2 and says pat pending. Any ideas on date or value would be great!! whew I'll post the details of the other bottles tomorrow. They others are a fourroses bottle with partial label and shot screw on top has a usp above label. The other one has alot of detail looks like george wasington on front has three or four ships several fighting men. will check back tomorrow. Thanks seek

Photos would certainly help. I have seen these spider web bottles around town in shops and garage sales, but not with labels. Post-prohibition bottles from the 30's and 40's and these might possibly extend into the 50's are more desireable with labels intact from what I am told.

The spider-web bottles sound like Prohibition bottles to me. The Dr's Rx was the only legal way to get whiskey. They don't say "Federal Law Prohibits..." which was required after Prohibition ended. These spider-web bottles are well-known, and I don't think they have a big value. However, the label and Rx would increase that value.
