I found this in an old cedar chest full of junk. It is an art deco glass vial with a glass stopper. Perfume from the 60's maybe? Any perfume enthusiasts out there? What kind of perfume was this? Who made it? Thanks!
Joel

Hey Rick, Long time no see... loved the little lattice ... thanks again. Find me a stopper will ya.

Yes, the inside reminded me of the old glass thermos', you know, the ones you always broke and they rattled so you knew you threw it a bit too hard.

Anyway, it is real shiny and the glass applicator fits real nice and snug. The perfume smells like a million bucks. Of course, me coming from Vermont and you from upstate NY, I must clarify, not the deer.

Later.... I liked the Corinth bottle too.

I just picked up Dr Hutchinson's Apoplexy for the VT collection. That one is a hard to find one. I paid a good chunk for it but it is worth every penny to me.

Joel

Gee Willackers Rick,
As long as we are here I may as well show you the Moffat I got last week.
Nice whittle, flawless.... the guy selling it said it was a rolled lip. I wouldn't call it that but the bottle is unique.

I was reading Dr. Cannon's Medicine Chest and the article on Moffat said there were ten Moffats that the author knew of. Two were arched "John" and both listed were olive. Here is a clear one so obviously there are more. It seems like I saw one up north that had a Vermont bname on it, perhaps Burlington. Could Moffat have been manufacturing his medicine in VT before going to NY?

Thanks for the heads up on the Mercury Glass, Rick. I am still not sure if this item  is MG, but I have been researching Mercury Glass or Silver Galss as it is called and it found it very interesting. It goes back as far as the 17th century and was a production of the Czech republic. thourhgout the years, it was as popular as silver, very collectible, but there are also knock-off's, I am to understand.

Regardless, I guess we will let the market decide as it had been already listed on eBay as item number 150267522939 when I started this thread.

Everyone, go check it out and chime in on what you think it is. Or, bid on it if you want, it is only at $11 dollars so far and I think the two bidders are more into pretty things than they are looking for Silver Glass.

Regardless, it was nice to find something new to learn about glass production. Knowledge! It makes all the difference in the world, eh?

On another note, I just heard from a Vermont collector that there is a glass show in Corinth NY this Thursday. I had no idea and think I will attend. Will you be there?
Joel

IT is Corinth Vermont not Corinth NY, which is too bad as NY is closer to me than Corinth VT is, believe it or not.

I was going to go to pick up  a bottle but just thought that postage is probably cheaper than travel today.

I still think I am going to go though.

That is mercury glass and it is from Roaring Twenty's. It is a Germany produced bottle imported into the United States of America and filled with perfume and sold here. They were quite popular and in abundance but their fragility cut them down a bit today. Theystill can be found and in quite a variety. This one shown here is bit more rare.
