Hi

I am writing to ask about a milk bottle I purchased. It is embossed on
front with Absolute Pure Milk above picture of guy milking cow. Below
that is The Milk Protector. It is a Blown in Mold bottle and has a cork
stopper. It is also a deep green –blue. It stands 11 ½ in. tall. Now I
collect fruit jars but this one caught my eye as neat. I have tried to
get a value on this but all I can find is for the wire bail tops. I am
thinking mine is reproduction because of its color but I am not sure.
Could you give me idea of value or if its reproduction. I can provide
picture if necessary. I don’t intend to sell it as and I only paid 2
bucks for it so my feeling won’t be hurt if its worthless. I would
appreciate it. Thanks

There are LOT's of reproductions of that bottle out there but if its a genuine one its a very good bottle. If you can post your photo of it it will help a lot to tell if its a repro or not.
I think it may be an English bottle, anyone know?

Thanks for the response. I am in process of moving so I just packed the bottle last night. I will post picture of it next week. I have seen lots of them around in my search. This one doesn't have the wire bail closure nor does it have anything stamped on bottome of bottle. I will get photo up and see what happens. should be interesting.

Thanks

ok here we go I finally got down to it and got a picture of this thing. I had to crop it because of size limit so I hope this is ok. I took pic outside on sunny day to get the color to show through. I hope someone can tell me if this is repro or not. It is my most interesting jar/bottle I have. And I have just started to collect.

Thanks

That should say Thatchers, Absolutely Pure Milk, Potsdam.....(man milking a cow), circa 1884.
I believe yours to be a reproduction of this bottle.

Thanks for the info. I did a quick search on ebay and I found lots in the same style as mine but none are the deep green I have. All in all I figured reproduction because of the color. Mine doesn't say thatchers or anything else than what i originally posted. I still think I got a neat one. Can't beat the two bucks I paid for it.
