I recently bought an old (?) seltzer bottle. There is still some liquid and nasty stuff inside which I'd like to remove and clean. The problem is that I can't figure out how to remove the top. It appears to have a green plastic insert under the silver metal dispenser top. It doesn't seem to have threads.

Hello mekeel, and welcome to the forum. If I remember correctly, most seltzers have a narrow metal ring at the bottom of the main top. They appear to be one piece, and both will spin around together. You need to find a way to grip the ring while twisting the top part. Also, the ring is actually a split ring, so when you screw off the top part, don't be surprized when you see the bottom in two pieces.
