Found these today while digging for bottles in the river:







Can anyone guess age?

The .22 (U) is Remington UMC ammunition. UMC was bought out by Remington long ago. That headstamp is still used on .22s so dating it is about impossible.

The other case looks to be a .32 rimfire. There arent any current made firearms for those. But Iam sure theres many around that can still fire. Do a search on .32 rimfires and see what you come up with.

Also, look for other items in the area which may help. If its a dump look for bottles/license plates etc that may help get a fix toward a date.

The area has been inhabited since the 1800's.  However, all the bottles I've found here seem to date from the early 1900's.

Well the .32 ammo was dropped from production about 1940s, and the .22s have been around also before 1900. So they could be pre 1900 or post 1900 or couldve be shot in 2000 if somebody had the gun. With the brass being somewhat corroded away I dont really think they were shot too long ago.
