I have a cobalt blue bottle, 3 1/2 inches tall, skull embossed w/the word POISON above the skull, PAT APPL'D FOR on the back near the bottom & crossbones underneath. I've recently become a Saturday morning Estate sell & garage sell fun shopper & decided to check out at the library - books on bottles, antiques etc..I came across a bottle that looks like mine EXCEPT the description of the bottle described a date (can't remember) with a smooth bottom. Wondering if mine is just a reproduction or something special. It's in perfect condition except the top is a little rough probably from the many times it's fallin off my window sill into my sink. My Grandmother gave it to me a while back but didn't mention anything about it one way or another. Can anyone tell me about it. Thanks, Jill

Hello and welcome,
Here's a Poison site for starters:

http://www.poisonbottle.com/

We'd be able to help more if we could see a picture or two.

If it is like this one also 3 1/2 inches tall it is rare and quite valuable. Try not to drop it in the sink anymore!

Thanks for the welcome 'Meech' & yes 'Roger' my bottle is exactly like the one you have up & is definitely 3 1/2 inches. I now keep it locked up & not on the window sill. Someday I hope to sell it & make some good money. I would love to start my own collection but see from my small attempt to purchase some poison bottles on ebay that it is an expensive hobby to get in to. It would be an exciting adventure to try out some of these "digs" I've been reading about on this forum but I guess I'll probably go the easy & lazy way of Estate Sale or yardsale miracle finds. Thanks for your reply. Jill

Hi Jill,

Why not continue garage sale/estate sale activities as well as digging for them? The excitement of digging the unknown is one you'll never forget (and we'll have another "digger" amongst our ranks).

I haven't researched my books on your skull poison, but if it's authentic, you've already started collecting!

By the way, poisons can be expensive, but a lot are not too expensive and they'll give you hours of pleasure and lots to look for.

I've also recently become interested in this fun and interesting hobby as a result of attending a large antique show in Roundtop, Texas. I've been trying to do more research on digs; where they are and how to join. Can you give Jill and I some information on how to get involved. I think it would be fun!
