i found this , beer in a privy a while back, etched on it its say wunder bottling co. sf..on the bottom it has pgw stamped a couple time s pacific glass works i guess but has anyone heard of wunder bottling co??? and do these etched bottles have a collector value..thanks fer any info

I really like acid etched bottles like that. I'd imagine they were a hell of a lot rarer than embossed bottles, as the company that used them was too small/cheap to buy embossed bottles from a glass manufacturer!

Dan my man (and others who might be interested)

There indeed was a WUNDER BOTTLING WORKS in Oakland, Stockton and San Francisco, Calif. There are a number of Blob Top bottles with embossed names and porcelain stoppers. Byron & Vicky Martin do a good job of identifying them in their "HERE'S TO BEERS" volume. They do not show your etched one however but I sure think it's possible it's an original. early users used whatever bottles they could acquire if there happened to be a shortage somehow. I remember seeing ads in old directories and newspapers for dealers of used containers including bottles.

Hope that helps a little, I say it's worth keeping in a "local" collection.

THANKS FOR THE INFO JIM THATS COOL... BY THE WAY I WAS GLANCING IN ONE OF MY BACK ISSUES OF ABGC MAGAZINE AND THE CORNER OF MY EYE I SAW SOMETHING ABOUT WAWWAW AND INSTANTLY YOU CAME TO MIND AND LO AND BEHOLD A PIC OF YOU AND A COUPLE LADIES TOO COOL!!!
