Unrealistically overpriced, yes. Scam, no, I don't think there is anyone in the world stupid enough to be taken in.

I think these were made for the Australian market in 1993. They sell for $30.00 or less.

I've seen these at shows with the fancy box priced around $50. They are an ordinary 1944 Coke bottle with no town on the bottom. Since they went to the trouble to create the nice packaging I suspect they have thousands of these.

During WWII Coca-Cola sent bottling plants with trained "Technical Observers" to operate at military bases in Europe and the Pacific and provide Coke to the troops. I think there were 20-30 plants that operated like this during the war.

I see hundreds of these clear coke bottles laying around in the jungle behind my house on Guam.  All dated 1944/1945.  I usually don't even pick them up unless they are clear (most I find are hazed).

They are very common on Guam where a couple hundred thousand troops prepared for an invasion of Japan in 1945 - there are piles of them in Tinian also, around the old B-29 bomber bases.

Don't forget the following from the seller's description ...

"This is a very valuable item for me, however being auctioned to fund my kids to study MBBS in university."

The above is what adds $9,949.00 to the value!

I have one in mint condition (dated 1945) that I will let go of for a measly $4,500.00!
