Any remedies for a stuck glass stopper with the original cork lining (which seems to be in remarkably good shape) that preserves the cork?

Hi asterisk80:   I would try a couple drops of olive oil and let it set over night.  RED M.

I was thinking a squirt of WD40, but Red's idea smells a lot better..

To both of you,  I have used WD-40 for just about everything.  And I mean even as an engine starting for my Detroit Diesel in the Motor Home.  The problem for a lot of applications like a piano hinge is that it dries out.  I learned that PB Blaster was better when you wanted the penetrent to leave an oil lubricant on the working parts.  So I keep both of them available.  RED M.

Right, so in this case, use the WD.. you will want that to dry out after setting it free.. I don't know the preferred method of preserving cork, in fact I hear it can be very difficult...

The WD worked perfectly!  the cork was out intact with the glass stopper in just a few squirts!  Thanks Red and Cyber, great ideas.  I should have gotten out some of my piano lube being an ex-piano tuner,  but the 40 did the trick in no time :-P  Thanks!
