As many of you probably have - a have several Eichold Whiskey bottles from Mobile, AL.  They have stone ground lips.  Seems unusual.  I always had wondered what the caps must have looked like.  I recently stumpled across one with the old cap on it.  Now, I'm just wondering, why were they stone ground?  Just to make the tops smooth to accept the cap?  Was this common practice during this time?  I don't have any other bottles like these.
