well, been finding a few this week, not dug but aquired, lol.

going to post some of the highlights - as always, any info for this  always learning newbie  is appreciated :)

~ AL

.....

first up is my one and only antique mall find, paid a whole dollar for this nice paper lable  Canada Dry Orange Dry 28 oz. .. thought it was unusual enough and since sodas is what got me hooked  :)
could not find one  on the web, so  is it rare and worth millions ?

the other finds  I got this week, was a yard sale I drove past, thought I glipsed something, turned around and drove past again before I saw the bottles, so I stopped.

older gent, said he collected these various places when he was doing construction. not sure how old any were, but  I grabbed em, 21 bottles for 20 bucks and made him toss in a large decorative marble  globe and stand.

first ones.

one on right I know nothing about, ABM, might be old, might be recent - my mom thought it should have a genie in it -  any info ?

second one is a slick - still full. ABM whiskey.

guy said he was working in a local train station and found two of these, one had mostly leaked out, this one sealed.  he thi8nks from when the train line was put through ( said they were buried in the sand under the station ) , statioion definately dates  TOC or older, buyt as noted, these are abm .... is 100 year old whiskey  better with age ???

nice abm bottle with  brass spout at bottom.

different but not something I'd normally keep .

again, open to any info anyone has, I'm taking notes :)

nice aqua abm - real crude with bubbles in the neck and a real crude base for an abm .

grapes embossed on side, so guessing  wine ? or a deco grape soda , lol ?

will grab some close-ups in a bit, my camera batteries died, so came in to crop and post what I had ( getting dark now anyways, too late to clean outside - sadly the cat knocked over and broke a crude amber slick, oh well.... )

amber  almost-slick, has 1/2 cup embossed above and below line with arrows, all in a recessed panel  front.

it's abm , guessing it might have had a paper label on opposite smooth side.. forget what  marks on base, if any, as it;s still outside drying from the bath .

speaking of Parlor City, as posted in another thread .... here is a Parlor City Bottling Works

aqua crown top, not bad shape,  have to get some copper and  try to tumble some of these . (  easy enough to  modify the unit I  have for roto casting  rocket nosecones into a tumbler  ) .

again, neat to find a local, that is adictive.

very crude BIM slick - nice aqua color, the seams  are 'sunk in ' ( not quite round, from the end, more like a mild figure 8 ), super crude lip, too.

here's the neck on this one.

this is the 'whittling' I read about, I belive ( remember, I'm a newbie, lol )

overall real neat, even for a slick - as someone posted, it;s not a slick, now it;s a bottle I like,

thanks mad.

I like em and if they;re worth the 20 bucks to me, then all is good  - but always nice to keep learning, and the intrigue for me  is to find out  the history ( not an uncommon pursuit, it seems ).

if you can point out the new ones, and what you mean by 'new' - like 40's or 80's  ?  then I'll know what ones to yard sale for the buck each back - maybe 2 each for the fancy ones.

my favorite is the binghamton  soda / beer. with ( now I know what it is ) , the Kilmers  kidney cure right behind...  have a couple more to clean up ( lil purfume, few slicks, a glycerine with intact paper label, real tall green spanish bottle ).

thanks for all the input, love the hobby and the forum :)

the brown bottle with the measurement on it is a certo bottle. it was used for canning fruits and is very common.

No idea on the Canada Dry.

I want to say sauce bottle on the "Genie" one, maybe a decanter or barbers bottle. That "whiskey" looks pretty funky to me.It should be fairly clear, maybe home made wine in it?100 year old whiskey would taste very good.

Im gonna say the spigot bottle was a wine decanter.

The next looks like a wine to me.A soda would be thicker than that looks because of carbonation, plus a cork wouldnt stay in like that.

Certo sounds right to me on the half cup bottle.

JD Parlor bottle was a soda or beer, not sure which.

The slick could have been a number of things. Those are striations or stress lines made from cooling on the neck.
"Whittling" is the dimply looking "orange peel" look some bottles have all over them.I think that is from cooling too.

Never heard of Franks Safe Cure.Must be a copycat Warners competitor."Cure" bottles were made before 1910? when the FDA made companies list the ingredients in their concoctions.Afterward they were called remedies.

Could be Maple syrup or maybe vinegar.Screw tops are not much in value and its a slick to boot. Not any info. to research.

I love the beaver one with the Lightning stopper.Ive seen one on here before, but cant remember what it was.

Interesting history of "fourty seven eleven" cologne here.

Ok here we go.
#1 I don't know, don't care, too new for me but people are starting to collect them. Post it in the soda category for more help on that one.

#2 The clear one on the left looks new but may be older then it appears. I have a figural bottle with a woman standing on her head that has the same exact neck and I think it dates to the 1930's. The other one is a common whiskey with mystery contents. Feed some too your neighbors dog. If he looks like he's having fun then try a shot. J/K

#3 That definitely looks like a wine decanter and a rather cool looking one as well. I think you did good on that one.

#4 is a new one. I usually see those in the dollar store and usually for a buck.

#5 Certo, used in making Jelly, very common.

#6 The Parlor City Bottle is a cool one. I don't know any more about that one.

#7 & #8 A really cool old med. Its a shame more of these weren't embossed. They still look good in a window and I use these ones to paint.

#9 Check that one out a little more. That looks like a sample size and is probably uncommon. I would guess that that is the gem of everything that you have there. The size of the bottle may have limited the amount of wording possible. I believe the guys name is Frank Warner. I'll gladly give you a dollar for that one and I'll even pay for the shipping. lol

#10 Fill it with colored sand and sell it for a buck.

#11 & #12 Is that a crown or a blob? The embossed beaver bottles that I find around here are usually early crowns. That is a Canada Dry bottle. Me and a few others assumed it was a water bottle but now we know better. I've never found one with the stopper in it though. It would have been great if the beaver was embossed on the side and a bit bigger.

#13 A cork, perfume is always a keeper.

Well I hope that helps you out a bit more and like I said definitely research that Frank's bottle out a bit better. Make sure it doesn't say wheaton or N.J. or Taiwan on the bottom. Swiz

Thanks for the replies - hope for more - you guys know this stuff ( I'm learning :) .

going to comment inline with Swiz's info below, so keep reading.

..... well, ACL 70s cokes is what got me started, so I have a thing for sodas, this ones a keeper, but to each his own :)

#2 The clear one on the left looks new but may be older then it appears. I have a figural bottle with a woman standing on her head that has the same exact neck and I think it dates to the 1930's. .. was thinking that was newer / designer booze bottle, but if it might be old, how do I tell ?

..... the whiskey is odd, would likew to open it and see, lol - as posted elsewhere, contents might be better n the bottle ;)

#3 That definitely looks like a wine decanter and a rather cool looking one as well. I think you did good on that one.

.. this one is neat, wish I knew the age or more info, going to hang onto it for now, but if anyone needs it, lol

#4 is a new one. I usually see those in the dollar store and usually for a buck.

.... gonna believe you and just put it in my nic nac window . looks real crude to me, btu maybe made that way top look old.

#5 Certo, used in making Jelly, very common.

.... this modern ? or 1920s ? going to sale it as window bottle, couple bucks. ( I sell nic nacs out of a side window at my furniture upholstery shop, so trying a few bottles just to test the waters ) .

#6 The Parlor City Bottle is a cool one. I don't know any more about that one.

... definate local keeper, assuming a soda, since a beer would be amber ? or is that untrue ?

#7 & #8 A really cool old med. Its a shame more of these weren't embossed. They still look good in a window and I use these ones to paint.

... I love that one, esp with the stretch marks - going to have to look at the others I got last month, for the whittle marks, still learning on that ( helps to see it in my hand instead of a pic ) .
this one a keeper to me, even if worthless, good display bottle.

#9 Check that one out a little more. That looks like a sample size and is probably uncommon. I would guess that that is the gem of everything that you have there. The size of the bottle may have limited the amount of wording possible. I believe the guys name is Frank Warner. I'll gladly give you a dollar for that one and I'll even pay for the shipping. lol

... I htink this is newer ABM, the ones I saw on ebay were bringing like 6-7 bucks, did finally find a red one, amongst the green, so less common but likely a novelty or such .
any more info appreciated.

#10 Fill it with colored sand and sell it for a buck.

... might try that :) . I figured, being screw top it was worthless $-wise, but thought maybe someone could tell brand or age by the shape.
I do have a bunch of slicks and such I might box up some weekend and try the local flea market, at a buck apiece and see if I can get my investment back :)

#11 & #12 Is that a crown or a blob? The embossed beaver bottles that I find around here are usually early crowns. That is a Canada Dry bottle. Me and a few others assumed it was a water bottle but now we know better. I've never found one with the stopper in it though. It would have been great if the beaver was embossed on the side and a bit bigger.

..... that's a crown, but real thin 'lip' ( ie: the diameter of the roll / lip ), I;d say super early (abm as I recall, I'm at work, bottle is home ).
the stopper is small rubber seal, as shown, not the big white stopper I'm familiar with . will get pics if it helps.
thanks for the info, cools to know.

#13 A cork, perfume is always a keeper.

... thaks to wangan for the link , keeper now if I know the history, will add to my growing shelf collection ( only small bottles fit, so no sodas up over the kitchen cabinets, will fill it up and post a pic when I get enough to fill the space :)

thanks again for the info, I'm sure I'll have more :p~ .

bottom line is keep hunting and the finds will come :D
