I have not seen one of these before . Made by Owen-Illinois Glass . The 59 on the bottom of the bottle could be the date of manufacture .

Puts me in the mind of being a bottle made some where other than the U. S. . Could be wrong . I looked in my Coke book and did not find it there .

The Owens-Illinois plant number looks like a 3 to me. If so, that would be for Fairmont, West Virginia, which, according to the chart below, closed in 1981.

Here are three possibilites that I can think of:

1. A prototype that never went into production

2. Test market bottle with limited distribution

3. Fantasy item made using a 1959 NDNR bottle that had no original label remaining

The paint does look really new and shiny....but then again the glass color looks close to Coke's typical green

Certainly a cool looking and unusual bottle. Hopefully one of the Coke collectors here will know something about it.

I believe it was number two in your reasoning, Somewhere on the Kovels site there was a remark and a pic of this very same bottle, and I believe it was stated that it was a test market launch with a limited production, and I believe they even said where, but it was so long ago i cant remember all the info.....Sorry

Thanks for all of the replys and the info. I will try to get a pic of the top of it for you asap. I liked the bottle and though it had to be something special. Thanks for all of the great info and hopefully we can find out about this one. If it was a test market bottle i wonder how long it was out or how many of these could have even made it to market. Once again i want to thank everyone for helping and hope we can figure this one out.

It is from 1959 and was test marketed in New Hampshire and other new england states. That is what i was told by an older bottle collector that use to have one. That is all i have come up with so far. Thanks for the info from the fellow collector. Just thought i would share.
