Here are 2 bottles we found today. They are similar and both embossed with patent mch 6 83. the base is embossed witha big X and the letters B  and BY on one bottle . The other is the same with the addition of the numbers 1 and 3.  One bottle has a hint of aqua color ,the other is brown. Anyone know anything about them?
Regards, Ed

I think Bixbys' are nice bottles. Really cool shape. Circa 1890. Pretty common. The amber is more sought after than the aqua or clear. One of my first finds and I still love it. There have been many posts about these. Do a search on this site. They made Shoe polish, Mucilge (glue), and ink.

Hey, thanks for the reply Diginit.
I am glad you posted a photo as it shows another bottle I found.
The second from right. I thought perhaps it was an ink bottle.
Thanks for the help.

Regards,Ed

Howdy Ed,
Glad I could help. If you're speaking of the cone shaped bottle. It is a cone ink. Bixbys' bottles will all have the familiar biXby on the base. There are lots of different inks. A favorite of mine. There was a great post on both inks and bixbys here a while back.  I would suggest a search of this site at the top of the page if you're curious.
James
