ok guy and gals getting ready to fire up my tumbler, now where do you get aluminun oxide and what kind? also polishing compound? does the size of the cut copper matter?any info greatly apreciated  mike

Hey Madman, I would recommend jardoctor because I believe you can only buy aluminum oxide in LARGE quantities. He has some pretty good prices. Aluminum oxide is for polishing and as far as I know there is only one kind. I don't have any experience with cutting. I seem to remember jardoctor having something like 600 grit and 1200 grit to remove scratches. I'm sure other members will know. Hope I helped a little bit at least.

I buy my grit and polish from rock tumbling supply stores. It's dirt cheap and it's the exact same stuff used for bottles. You can get very coarse down to about 300 which I wouldn't use but they also have the polish and other sizes available.

hey gang how much cut do i use?  is it just a rougher grit aluminum oxide? or is it somthing alltogether different ???
