Can anyone tell me what kind of bottle this is? It measures 2 1/4" square 4" tall the mouth opening is 1 3/16". There is no writing or numbers anywhere on bottle

I'm probably wrong on the date but I'm pretty sure it's a 1920/30's snuff. Swizzle

Well, in the really "old days" snuff was not quite what it is today....

Snuff bottles had a stopper with a small ivory spoon attached to it, from which the snuff was inhaled.   Dont know if yours falls into that really old category though....

I think the type of snuff in that jar was a moist chewing tobacco similar to Skoal.
A bottle like DOC MARSHALL'S SNUFF would be the snorting type.
