Hey Bevyn, William Beehler thing is part of an umbrella started first American umbrella factory in Baltimore. The key is a door key. The brass gears and all the parts with the jack knife are watch parts too. I don't know what the thimble thing is but it is not a clock part. The two brown knobs are door knobs and the clasp is from a womans garment or belt. To check gold just put a drop of muriatic acid on it and if it fizes, smokes or turns green it is not. If it is gold nothing will happen. Rince the parts well with water to remove the acid. Be careful with the acid. It can burn you and should only be used out of doors and have a bucket of water and bacon soda handy.
