Old butter knife

Now a closer look at my favorites

This is gold and it says WILLIAM BEEHLER on it, any idea what this is?

This is gold also, and it has dates on it to but i can only make out two of them:

"xxxx - 1900
xxxx - 1907"

And finally the old key

Camera got kinda blurry please ignore it

If anyone can help me identify some of this stuff please do so. Thanks!

Hi Bevyn and Welcome to Antique-Bottles.Net -
Your photos are way too large and need edited/cropped.

It looks like someone unlooked a door and shot a clock (a few times)!

help you identify?   Ok, you got a skeleton key although it might be a wind up key for an old clock.  The only reason i say that is because of all the brass clock works you've got there.  The round brass things that say winchester are the brass ends off shotgun shells.  Some of the other items might also be part of the clock works.  The white disk is a milkglass insert from a canning jar.

What you call 'gold' is probably also brass and related to the clock works.  The numbers probably refer to patent dates.

Brass thimble thing could be that thing that makes an old clock go boing every hour or so.

in your first picture in the box it looks to me like you have a jack knife of some sort with silvery ends , do you snorkel or use diving equipment?

Hey Bevyn, William Beehler thing is part of an umbrella started first American umbrella factory in Baltimore. The key is a door key. The brass gears and all the parts with the jack knife are watch parts too. I don't know what the thimble thing is but it is not a clock part. The two brown knobs are door knobs and the clasp is from a womans garment or belt.

To check gold just put a drop of muriatic acid on it and if it fizes, smokes or turns green it is not. If it is gold nothing will happen. Rince the parts well with water to remove the acid. Be careful with the acid. It can burn you and should only be used out of doors and have a bucket of water and bacon soda handy.
