I bought this Rutland VT Coke, I believe it is 1952. I have another but it only says "patented" without a number ... this one has anubmer. What is does that mean? I paid $2 bucks for itl.

Nice quart strapside! I love the color. Good finds. All I ever find at yard sales are other bottle collectors.  :-)

the ones with "PAT.D 105529" were issued 1938-1951. is your other one without the number a 6 or 6 1/2 oz bottle? 6oz dates 1951-1958 and 6 1/2 198-1965. rutland pat d bottle is listed as common. i would say $2 was a good price.

They are both 6 oa. The one with the number you correctly qouted has a 52 (trademark C)41 on it. While the other, whose print is a little smaller has 56-23 in small print on the side. From watching your psts I assume 1952 and 1956, respectively.

Now, What kind of bottle do yo call these. O.K. .... besides coke bottles. I see you use the terms hob, ACL etc.
People around these parts say think the Rutland Coke is worth big bucks, I hear up to $85. I guess you all have dispelled that rumor for me. My 10 year old son was with me when I unearthed the first Rutland coke and, as with everything I own, he thinks he owns it. He is now 25 and told me if I ever sell it .... to get $85 dollars for it.

I can't wait til he gets home so I can gloat.

Thanks guys. It doesn't take much to humour me.

Joel

Thanks Spencer. The best part was it only cost pocket change and I wife paid for it out of her pocket. Now I have to clean them up and find a place for them. I need to start categorizing. I can't wait to start digging in the spring.

Hey, do you think Frank has already explained his bucket cleaning routine on here and I can find it searching. Do you know where it might be.

joel, the pat. d and patent 6oz are listed as common. the 1915 is listed as unknown, the 1923 is listed as scarce and the 6 1/2 oz patent is listed as rare. this comes from bill porters coke book which was written in 1995. things may have changed since then. i'm no expert on cokes but i believe there are very few hobble skirts worth $85. hope this helps.

Thanks John, you made my day. I never thought I would be happy that a bottle is less than thought. In this case I am ecstatic as this ends a long going argument with my son.
