We have all seen them, the yellow wooden Coca Cola crates, but what is the deal with this one? It is made up of a thick black plastic, almost resin like, and the brand info and size is embossed in the plastic with the paint applied later. There is no town name to speak of, but embossed on the bottem is "The Richardson Company" with Patent Pending under that. There are two circles with numbers inbossed in them on the bottem as well the first is "1277" and the other reads "I R 59" which I have pictured below. So what is the story with this crate? Is it an early attempt to convert the crates over to plastic? Is this some type of prototype? I have never seen anything like it, so what is this Coke guys (and gals)?
