I went back to a TOC dump I've been digging off and on for about a year. I spent about 2 hrs digging in a location I haven't dug yet...about 30 feet down the creek embankment from where I have been digging in the past. Found a few cool bottles including the bright emerald (?) green one. Not sure what it was used for or how old it is. From what I've found online looks like it might have been used for spices like pepper or something? Any help with this one would be greatly appreciated...how old, used for etc. This is the first bottle I've EVER found in this color...I like it!

The green one is a capers bottle.  They're pretty.  It's 1900's.

I believe the bottle with the "S" & Co. monogram is a Singer sewing machine oil bottle.

I always call them caper bottles, but they probably held olives. Nice digging!

Thanks for the info. all! Hopefully I'll be hitting the dump again this upcoming weekend. The advertising for the Ponds Extract is interesting...sounds like it would cure just about anything that could bother you...lol

Rick,

I always naively thought those emerald greens were suace or dressing botttles.  Olives???  I have a few and only half guessed to the contents as most aren't marked...Olives..really?

I have always heard they were caper's bottles.EARLIER people were talking about boiled peanuts. I love them.can someone say that caper's are good? FROM the pictures I have seen of them ,they don't look to good! Do they taste like WHAT? CHICKEN,BRUSSEL SPROUTS? REALLY CURIOUS,BUT NOT ENOUGH TO GO BUY ANY.

Capers are awesome!  Toast, smoked salmon, onion, creme fraiche with horseradish and capers on top.  I'm making myself hungry!
