Matt, you are the resident expert on salts. we pulled this from a pontil hole yesterday and although it's broken, caught my eye. could this be a salt ? another photo to follow.

we found the back half when we filled in the hole...

quite a few items came out whole. i'll post those photos after we
clean them up a bit.

It has the right form for an early new england salt. They tend to be pretty rare so I havent seen a whole lot of them. They were normally pressed glass. Maybe some of the tableware experts will have some ideas on it. May be worth repairing.

got some pics. these are the graphite pontils

the first is a Cook from Phillipsburg. the original residents
had an obvious liking for mineral water

Interesting pontil on that Kohl & Beans not really a blow pipe open pontil more of a glass tipped solid iron bar. Very cool and crude.
