New to digging, and have been digging in my woods in a pile of jars, glass, lids, etc. There are tons of the canning lids, I'm assuming zinc, have the white glass on the inside. Not in usuable shape. Is this something that someone might be interested in? All the canning jars are broken (so far).

What you have there are indeed, zinc canning lids. The white glass is porcelain. They're really really common because they were the Ziploc lids of the early 1900s. They were made by a wide variety of companies like Boyd, Atlas, Hero Fruit Jar, Ball Bros., and Consolidated Fruit Jar Co. to name a few. I've got a pretty big collection of them (I like the designs) and you're almost guarenteed to find them in a dump dated to the late 1800s up until the 1960s when home canning became unpopular and supermarkets were for the win.

As far as someone wanting them, I don't know. I like finding them, but if I were to sell them at a yardsale, I'd probably get 500 "what are these?" before I sold them for 10-15 cents each

unless they are completely disintergrated, some of them may be useful to someone who needs a lid for their jar.

I know where there is a large amount lying around too. I was wondering if they might be worth anything scrap wise. I guess I can call my scrap guy tomorrow, hopefully he does not laugh lol.

I'd like to reinforce Ajohn's inquiry.. you can still buy brand new lids for the regular jars, but those midget lids are getting scarce!!

those are always selling on ebay so they may have a value. There are some very valuable ones so post pics or do research first. If they have the lugs on them will be worth more.
