Hello folks I just saw a listing on Ebay for an original E.G.BOOZ whiskey bottle . Listed in bottles and insulators . Is it real or clevenger I have an original and I think it is a repro. What do you think ?

if this is the bottle it is clevenger, and not an original, even though the seller insists.

Sorry Brian I don't know how to post links I'm very computer illiterate. Loby Idug my E.G.Booz from a privy that dated back to the 1860's judging from the other bottles found in the hole. The sad part is my Booz has a hole in the back corner. The 1 listed doesn't look like mine thats why I asked the question.

If the Booz you were talking about is the one that Matt ( tigue710 ) provided a link for ...... I agree with him ......... that one is a repro.

Guys Check Digging and Finding the thread started by Blade. That was the hole my booz came out of . Blade and I dug that hole a few months ago.

The one TIQUES posted a link to is a Clevenger....best way to tell quik is the Os in booz on the roof should be centered and not drawn up into the neck...
the thread in Reproes. also has other details.

Hey Don,
Thanks for pointing that post out. you can't tell a lot from the picture, but, I can see that the original top is much sharper and cleaner than what they put on repros to make them appear old and crude.
And thank you Matt for the link to the great info posted by Steve.
Now if someone could just help me figure out my Turlington bottle I'd be doing all right!!

Thanks guys!

CHAR...that ain't no place for Clevenger bottles...especially Booz cabins....[;)]

This Forum is a good place to learn about a lot of bottle categories and related topics...I am amazed at the knowledge Peeps display/share in here on a daily basis.[:)]

That's a nice bottle even with the damage. The repro becomes fairly obvious when you put that one next to it.

here is a sight thru digger odell that give the examples and show the real thing maybe this will help anyone who wants to know i believe this is where he is getting the info he posted looking at his i would say it is a repo but i dont think clevenger im thinking a diffrent place not sure but that is my 2 cents worth also i can see on the roof alone 2 items that make it not an original the o in booz is touching the neck and the beveled corners are well into the second row of shingles those 2 alone are enough for me see ya bob

Clevenger E.G.Booze on E- bay is up to 305.00 . What will the people do when they find out it is a reproduction ?

tigue710

they probably wont find out for years, considering they bought the hype in the auction...

a dead give away on these is how the corners were cut, the clevenger always has a sharper cut with more of the roof taking out then the original...

Clevenger Booz went for $560.00 Somebody probably thought they got a good deal.
