Picked up this jar of marbles today at the local antique store. I don't know anything about marbles, and didn't care about them until I joined this site. I'll have to get a pic of them all laid out. ~Mike

I finally remembered to dump out the marbles, and take a couple of pics. I don't really know what to look for, and with my luck, they all came from Wal Mart last week. [:(] ~Mike

I see quite a few oldies in there. Post pics of any marble with a 9 pattern too. Those types likely be handgathered or Akro. 9 pattern meaning looking down on the pole of the marble and the color forms a 9 or 6 as it wraps around the marble.

Okay, so I finally got around to taking some better(?) pics. Maybe there's one in here that I can retire on. [8|] ~Mike

The fact that they're many different sizes makes me think they're old.. wish we could divy em up and have us a shoot..! [8D]

With the close up pics most all of them appear to be older marbles .Not sure if there are any there to retire on .Many different manufacturers in the mix . Would like to see pics of the baby blue and yellow one ,near the center in the first of the close up pics ,maybe CAC ? Road dog may be able to spot something though .
Charlie please do not use old marbles for play ,buy some new in store if you can find them and use those (i know you were kidding) [:D] .Played with marbles lose most of value due to chips and cracks .I have some junkers i can send you .[:)]

I'll try and get some close ups of it Rick when I have some better light. It does have a chip in it. Charlie must have been playing with it. [8|] ~Mike

Here's some close ups of that marble, Rick. Sorry about the shadow, but the sun is bright and low this morning. And unfortunately, doesn't seem to be putting off any heat as it's only in the teens. [:(] ~Mike

Looks like an Akro 2 color corkscrew ( can only be 2 color if white is not one of the colors ,i think) .Machine made marble values are on the rise .[:)]
