I dug these today. I think they're both clay. One is this weird reddish color, and the other seems to be oriental blue and white. I don't know the first thing about marbles, so help me out. Are they rare? Maybe valuable?

It has this one spot that kind of looks like an outie belly button. Is this a pontil or something?

They look like Bennington marbles to me , could be wrong , and yes , the belly button deal is a pontil , or at least I think it is . I am sure there will be others that will chime in .

Yep, Bennies.. from Germany, TOCish.. the navel markings are where the marbles rested on the kiln surface.

Bennies!!!! Those are nice Wheelah! Great to display proudly with bottles. They come in all different sizes and that style of glaze was very popular on all sorts of pottery pieces as well and can be very collectible. Marbles are fairly common but little beauties and so fun to dig! I always keep them even if common as i'm trying to fill a jar.
