My parents gave me this bottle for Christmas. It looks too good to be true. It it real? It has a big jagged pontil.

Hey Leet,
Merry Christmas. I am just guessing. The pontil and bottle look legit but the top is odd. My guess is that the top was broken off when it was found and someone took a mapp torch to the rough neck and melted it so that it wasn't jagged. I could be wrong.

I have to agree. Everything looks good but the top. Would've been some kind of utilitarian bottle, I bet. Too bad, though it looks like it displays nice.

Yeah ditto above, still cool though. You should take it to a glass furnace and have them apply a new top! That would be unique for sure. --Joe

It would have originally had a flared lip, that is now gone. If you look closely, you can see some of where the glass folded inward before it was flared out. Otherwise, it's the real deal.

It would have looked like this.
