I recently picked this up from the flea market for next to nothing, a shame there's no embossing but still an old and pretty bottle. Any ideas on what it may have held? Thanks for looking.---Joe

Are my eyes failing me, or is there a blank square slug plate on the front there? Either way that's a very nice bottle. Reminds me of the "U.S. HOSP. DEPT" bottles. Probably held some kind of chemicals. Cool find!

Does look a bit like a slugplate area there.

Hard to tell what it held. They were often used for wholesale druggist products. Many other things also.

Very nice bottle indeed. Here is one of mine, that that is similar and one that I have always liked. Instead of having an iron pontil, it has an open pontil and lots of whittle. This one is about 8" tall.

There is definitely a very soft slug plate impression on the bottle. Real good eyes, Wheelah! --Joe
