Are slick pontils very valuable? I bought one very cheap and was suprised as it has no conditon issues other than plainess. Its great for me as I have no pontiled bottles. I bought it for 5 bucks at my local flea market. Its a beauty even though its slick. All kinds of crude. Its probably 5 inches tall.

Not very valuable, but certainly better than non pontiled ones. If it's crude, I'd be happy with $5 for it. They look really nice, anyway.

Generally you can get unremarkable dug ones for a couple bucks. Ones with odd shapes, bigger size, good color, etc etc bring more money. There were a lot of them made so the supply is greater than demand.

Cool, I really like the one I have its smaller. The bottom is sooooo disproportinate its all blown out looking. If they are cheap I dig it!

Ya pontiled only covers one consideration in bottle value, as does condition, but there are still more criteria..

Cool lookin' bugger. I've only dug a few pontils, and even then, no embossed ones yet.

Almost all of my "best" local bottles, I've bought... You can't dig every bottle you want, so don't feel bad about buying! [:)]
