How do I mudlark for bottles without sinking?

So, I just bought waders and was going to get into some mudlarking where I've found bottles before. The problem is that I sink into the muddy bottom of the coves I am exploring. Is there any way to walk on the mud without sinking?

No - not unless you can shed weight and have feet that are really wide.

think of it like snowshoeing but way more difficult. I’ve tried what you’re doing all along the CT river banks and Long Island sound areas at low tide. So many of them are essentially un accessible by foot for that very reason. Sinking knee to thigh deep doesn’t work

If only someone could invent a way to walk on these mudflats, oh well, I'll have to try to get the bottles without getting stuck, maybe a hand claw or something.
