Likely British. May be tough to figure out who made it.

I'm going to say lyndeborough glass company, with that tooled top, probably around the 1880s. Go to glass bottle marks.com and check that out. It also says if that number precedes the s mark, then it would be the American bottle company.

According to my book (( Bottle Makers and Their Marks, By Toulouse), the only company to use a plain S was the Streator Ill. plant of the Owens Co after 1917 until some time before 1929. The number arrangement was different, so maybe your's is European.

It's for sure not Lyndeborough. 1910's era British whiskey.
