I found this in a creek the day after a flash flood this spring. The only damage seems to be the nick on the D on one of the C.C. Soda's. Other than that, it seems mint. A couple have sold on eBay for a few hundred dollars over ten years ago. These were apparently made exclusively for the inaugural homecoming football game at Champaign's Memorial Stadium. I thought it was pretty cool that it turned up looking so nice in a Peoria creek almost a century later. I'm thankful I got to it before it got smashed.

Killer mold on that baby. Great grab!

Thank you!

I see that the two that have sold for quite a bit have comparable damage, but are also a little different than mine. For one, mine doesn't have a patent date. Somebody on another forum conjectured that mine looks like a 1950's-60's bottle, but according to local lore this was made for a specific football game in 1923. What do you y'all think? It was in an area where I mostly find 1920's-40's and occasionally turn of the century stuff. I consulted my Central Illinois Bottles and Glasses book, but it doesn't cover that far east, and it's the only bottle book I have.

Well, well, a news channel in that town wants to do a story about this. I had recently decided to sell this bottle. This exposure could help.
