All this jar says is Mason. Does anyone know anymore about this? Did Ball make it? Or is it Atlas?
I don't have the red book. What does that mean? Is that a good #?Ball made, looks like a #1648-5 in the red book
I don't see any other embossing on the jar. The word Mason is super smooth like it's fading away. The Red Book lists jars in alphabetical order. 1648-5 is the numerical reference for that particular jar. #1648-5 only lists the jar as a Bead Seal variation, rather than the Shoulder Seal variation in your pics. I do agree that it is a Ball-made jar. Is there any faint or erased embossing that you can see above the word Mason?
I don't know if this helps. But thank you for the infois it a ground lip? sorry eyes are going & could not tell from photos. could be a #1642. fairly common jar 10-20
That is not a ground lip. The old jars literally would be ground flat to be even and the lip while flat was a tad rough and not at all shiny.I don't know if this helps. But thank you for the info
